En 1974 Stewart se mudó a Estados Unidos y firmó con Warner Bros. Records (ahora Warner Records). Durante sus siguientes 27 años con el sello, Stewart lanzó algunos de los discos más exitosos y aclamados por la crítica de su extraordinaria carrera.
