Originating in the Afro-American populations of
the Southern United States at the beginning of the
twentieth century, JAZZ evolved to become one of
the most universal musical styles in the world.
This collection compiles 18 complete LPs, all of
them classics in their own right, which serve as
an easy introduction to the genre. Although they
represent various jazz subgenres, all of them were
recorded between the mid-1950s and the early
1960s, when recording techniques had advanced
significantly with respect to previous years. That
period also marked the beginning of the LP era.
Thus, no rough sounds are to be heard on this
set. We have also refrained from including very
experimental or free jazz albums. Represented
here are some of the most important figures in
jazz, heard on some of the best LPs of the genre.
Includes a 20-page booklet including rare photos,
vintage memorabilia and detailed liner notes.
