Siempre a la vanguardia del jazz, el trompetista Chet Baker y el pianista Bill Evans crearon «Alone Together» como una genial gema de blues el 28 de diciembre de 1958. Se estrenó un mes después con mucho aplauso y aprobación popular. Sin embargo, los historiadores del jazz realmente consideran este álbum como un verdadero precursor del «Kind of Blue» de Miles Davis. «Alone Together» no llegó a prenderse fuego como «Kind of Blue», que se lanzó solo 7 meses después, pero fue un gran calentamiento para Evans. Evans en realidad compuso parte de Davis y tocó en «Kind of Blue» de Davis. Este lanzamiento contiene el álbum original completo de 1959 más una pista adicional.
